Of the seven apartments damaged, four of them were under nine feet of water during the flood. Therefore, these apartments had to be totally gutted using a remediation crew dressed in hazmat suits. After hazardous material was removed, the wall studs had to be dried and treated with an encapsulant. All of the electrical wiring had to be replaced, along with the HVAC system and duct work. The exterior siding, consisting of brick and vinyl, was also removed and replaced. New insulation, windows, doors, plumbing fixtures, appliances, cabinetry, countertops and flooring were installed. After completion, the air quality was tested to insure the apartments were safe to live in.
The other three units were not damaged as much as the four listed above, but were treated the same and made safe prior to leasing.
